Learn to Salsa

Now I can definitely say i’ve done this. I’ve taken three more classes (meaning 18 lessons) and although it’s very easy to forget all the steps when you haven’t practiced for a while (like now, in summer) i feel rather confident about it now.

I started out last semester but quit after the first lesson was too slow-paced. This semester I tried the next level at the same place and was pleasantly surprised; partly because the pace was much better and partly because even though I’ve yet to prove very adept at dancing I was quiet able to follow it. Seeing as how I have two lessons left (out of six) saying “I’ve done this” may be a bit contentious but what I’ve done is I’ve committed myself and found the confidence to actually dance salsa in public. Also it has so far helped me a tad with my being a little bit jealous of my girlfriend dancing with other guys. I think guys in general (even the ones who, like me, enjoys dancing, (at least intoxicated)) feels a bit inadequate when out at a club and seeing some other guy dance their shoes off to some girl(s) admiring sighs, and find it incredible that it took me this long to realize that it wouldn’t be expensive or timeconsuming to do something about it; that it even would be a lot of fun!

I went to a club here in Linköping where they have these one hour courses in Salsa. It was me and my girlfriend, an older lady and a nice, middle-easternish couple who took the basic class (there is and advanced as well) and all was very nice.

I can definately see myself learning this dance.

Went to a one-hour salsa course yesterday with a friend of mine. Of course I kind a sucked but it was a start and I didn’t suck more than anyone else I guess…

I’d like to be able to salsa mostly beacuse it seems lika a good alternative to getting mildly intoxicated and dance to Usher (or if one is lucky, Dizze Rascal)...
