I have this cat that was abandoned as a kitten at about 6 weeks old, and she’s 2 1/2 years old now, but when she was about 8 weeks old she started doing this repeated paw motion with her food, like she was trying to cover it up dragging anything nearby INTO the food/water dish, and now she does this EVERY time after she’s done eating. She also does the “paw-paw” thing with the miniblinds (or she’ll “fish” up the mini-blind cord from on top of the bookcase and chew on it.) Usually at 3am when I have to get up early the next morning. And if I tell her NO she stops … for about 5 seconds, then starts at it again until I physically remove her from proximity with the blinds (which undoubtedly trains her to do it everytime she wants my attention.)
She also paces back and forth across the desk/filing cabinet/chest of drawers/bookcase or whatever furniture happens to be handy. Back and forth. Back and forth. Then she’ll go outside and walk around the house a few times.
Silly wacky cat, I swear she has OCD.
