another 3 contractor bags plus a couple of regular trash bags, and all the junk off my front porch.

Not as much progress today as I was hoping, but I did get one more contractor bag full of junk.
We have to move everything around in the basement to get the carpet up, so I figure anything that’s in the way that I don’t want to keep gets tossed, even if it’s not damaged (assuming the people carrying stuff are OK with this theory, but I’m guessing they’d rather take it out than keep moving it all day). I’m trying to view “throwing out all my record albums” as “de-cluttering” – I’ve considered getting rid of them before, and many of them I’ve already replaced with CDs, but it’s still sad to have the decision forced, and the only other option is to spend lots of time and body points on taking them out, cleaning them, and drying the jackets.
Tomorrow I’m going out to find more plastic storage tubs so the stuff we’re keeping can get put away someplace more water-resistant.
This flood is going to be an excuse to get rid of some wet, nasty, ruined clutter, but I need to get help moving it out of here and everyone in the household is exhausted from pumping water constantly. At least I know what needs to go.
This is one of those “how do you know when you’re done?” goals. I guess my goal is to keep working on it, and to have a little less each year.
