switching goals.

now that i have narrowed down my list of potential languages to learn from six to one; i am changing my goal. instead of languages as a whole, i am going to focus my phonetic energy solely on japanese.

thanks for the support, without which i would still be meandering the world of languages.

follow my progress

kana.

i am working on hiragana so i can learn to read the japanese written language. this is to prevent myself from relying on romaji as a crutch. it is a good first step.

i am using the wikiversity article as a starting point.
http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Japanese_stream

nippon.

i am feeling reinvigorated about learning japanese. i feel more motivated then ever. this time i really need to dive into everything japanese and integrate it into my life thoroughly; i need to incorporate myself into the japanese learning community in order to support my motivation.

i will do it; i will learn it; i will study in japan.
one step at a time.

stick to one.

there are so many beautiful languages to learn and so few hours in a day.

every month or so i get obsessed with a new language, learn a couple phrases, move on to the next language and forget everything i previously learned.

japanese, chinese, korean, german, dutch, french, swiss german; i need to pick one and stick to it.

the japanese language and culture has interested me for quite some time now. although, i have german and dutch heritage; i feel like i should understand my roots. my friend is currently in china studying the language and i would love to talk to him in his new language; plus china is increasing its global context. french is just an elegant language. the swiss are responsible for such great graphic design that i want to go to study there.

outside of my native english i think the japanese language most permeates in my life. i really should fit in a language course.

slacking

i haven’t been practicing.
only watching anime.
not learning anything.

speaking another language is one of those goals that is intimidatingly daunting. i need to take it one step at a time.

nihongo

in order to study in japan next year i need to pass the proficiency test. i just started this year. lots of studying will ensue.
