find an apartment

I’ve had eight replies to that posting since that first one I talked about. I never expected that many replies to such an open and honest ad.

I’ve been having really shit luck finding roommate(s), and places for an apartment. I’ve been lucky if I get a call back even. I’ve seen a couple of places that didn’t meet par, two roommates who backed out on me, and a couple of places that no-showed me for tours. I’ve been getting really frustrated, so this morning I took a long shot and made a post on craigslist.com:

I’m looking for either an available room for rent, or someone looking for a room (so we can shop for a place together). Must be GLBT friendly since I am transgendered (MTF), and in the process of transitioning. I don’t bite…I promise. =) I’m pretty laid back. I work in the corporate offices of a local financial firm in the brokerage department. Another professional near my age (28) would be ideal. I work in downtown Minneapolis, so I’m looking for something that isn’t too far from there. I have a 4 yr old cat, and she’s calico. My rent range is pretty flexible, depending on the available space and other amenities. I would like to save cash where possible though. Shoot me a note if you think you might be interested, and we can go from there.

This is Josh [last name]. My partner Sonny and I own a 3 bedroom home in South Minneapolis, we currently have two of the rooms filled. Jen is 22 and a transgendered mtf student. She is very friendly and is also in the early beginnings as far as her transition goes. Jason is 30 years old and a gay male. Both are easy to live with, Sonny and I are currently living with them. We are buying a condo 5 blocks north of the house that has a room for rent. The room that is available is a large bedroom (master) with TWO (2) YES I SAID TWO walk in closets. So there is plenty of room. Your cat will totally be welcome and there is already a cat living here. Give me a call, I’d love to give you the opportunity to live in this really great environment. The house is located lake and Chicago area (34th and Columbus), transitional neighborhood that is quiet. WE really love this area, that’s why were not leaving. Hope to hear from you soon.
