It’s not like having a degree in parapsychology; but I’m ever so thankful these days for small things, and one of those is my certificate as a paranomal investigator. At least it marks an accomplishment of committment to investigative techniques to analyze preternatural phenomena. There are a few sources for inexpensive education out there, the largest of which are probably IGHS and Flamel College. I do recommend that anyone interested in the field pursue educational opportunities to begin the journey of investigation in the most effective way and continue to learn about new techniques and technological advancements. Of course, I don’t recommend surrenduring one’s common sense to follow another’s idealogy. Critical thinking is crucial in evaluating phenomena as well as curricula.

I don’t know why I have such a hard time posting my own story; but it’s always a struggle for me to share it. Briefly, I think my involvement with the paranormal must have begun the day I was born. As a small child, I played regularly with “my little ghost friend”. This sort of behavior was not acceptable in our household; so I developed a fear of anything paranormal. Of course, that didn’t keep numerous paranormal phenomena from occuring in my life and didn’t curb my curiosity much. Positive paranormal events were quite comforting; but negative ones filled me with panic. In my adult life, I’m come to understand a lot of spiritual things in greater depth, I’ve learned to challenge everything with healthy skepticism (scientific method), and, in that process, I’ve been blessed to enrich my spiritual beliefs while abandoning old superstitions that didn’t serve me well (or prove valid). Now, in my late forties, I have come to embrace the paranormal. I understand now that these things are just going to happen. They’re part of life, like meeting new people or learning new things. Paranormal phenomena are just happenings that require a greater depth of understanding or touch us on a deeper level than normal events. Spirits are just folks like you and I who don’t currently inhabit a physical body. Being spirits doesn’t make them good, bad, or all-knowing; it just makes them sort of “homeless.” Even understanding demons more fully can help put things into perspective and give you some useful guidelines should you recognize that you encounter them in your life. I’m thankful for the vast amount of experience I’ve had with the paranormal, good and bad, soothing and terrifying, over the years because that journey has brought me to the acceptance I can now have.
In my journey to understand the paranormal in my life, I first heard of courses teaching paranormal investigation several years ago. I began studying with a fairly small group and read a number of books. I compared courses that were available through correspondence as well as classroom opportunities, selected the course that best fit my needs, and have now received a certificate as a paranormal investigator. I have no delusions. That doesn’t really mean much. It’s not like a degree in parapsychology; but it’s a start.
I encourage those of you working on this goal to prayerfully decide what works best for you, diligently seek knowledge and understanding, and enjoy the rewards of realizing your goals.
