good idea

So the husband and I managed to agree on a date night to go out to dinner once a week, and I think it’s a good idea. I make dinner pretty much every other night, except Tuesday and Thursday when he works late, so that leaves me 4 nights a week to make delicious dinners. I love it, I love cooking and I love trying new recipes and ideas, plus we’re saving money. It’s a great way to learn your way around the kitchen (if you don’t already), and just to have fun. I prefer cooking alone, I like to take charge, but I bet for some people it might be fun to have a friend or significant other to help. I just love the satisfaction of seeing my husband enjoying the meals I make. And I really don’t think dinner out once a week is a bad idea, especially for married couples, it’s also just good to have a night together, doing something special. But eating in can be special too!

break time

Alright, well I’m going to need to take a break from this goal for a while…not give up, but take a break for about 10 days or so. Reason being I’m moving all the way from Texas to Canada, and since they don’t have any decent mexican or tex-mex food up there, I’m going to have to work on getting my fill of it everyday. Breakfast, lunch and dinner I say, haha. Well, not that much, but enough to hold me over for 3 months till my next trip home. Oy vey…I’ll work on teaching myself how to cook all that delicious food while I’m away.

Plus, I went out last night to another favorite 24 hour restaurant, that is only in Austin, but it was 2 in the morning for a snack and I only spent 5 bucks. But by that time I was on my break anyway, haha.

okay

Okay so I went out to eat last night! But I went with my dad and he paid. I guess I should change this goal to “stop spending my OWN money on going out to dinner.” Yes, that’s it. Besides we went somewhere cheap, Taco Cabana. It’s like mexican fast food but a bazillion times better and healthier than Taco Bell (vomit).

1 week

Been 1 week since I adopted this goal, and it’s going well. I’ve turned down a couple chances for going out to eat and it feels good. Yay, saving money! Plus my friend was house-sitting for our neighbor and they had lasagna in the fridge and told us to eat it, so I did for 2 days in a row, yay :-P

hmm

I have a feeling that my friend is going to ask me if I want to go out and get some food tonight, but I will not cave!!! This will be my fifth night without making my own food. Oh okay, well actually my dad came into work yesterday and went and got me a sub, but that doesn’t count! I was so starving I was shaking and I didn’t actually pay for it. But if my friend asks tonight, I’ll just say “no I got food at home.” Yay, wish me luck :-P

yay

On my 2nd successful night being restaurant free. Skillet Sensation is on my list, delish! It’s only $3.50, much much less than any eating out, plus it lasts for 2 nights!

no more!

I eat out when I’m at home WAY too much with friends. And it’s pretty much the reason I get food poisoning so effing much!!! (I’ve had it 7 times within the last 18 months) So lately I have been getting vegetarian meals from the menus, but it’s no good enough for me. I waste too much freaking money on eating out. It needs to come to an end.
