I’m reading “Magic Street” by Orson Scott Card. It’s quite a convoluted alternate-reality story, but to sum it up in a few words, Oberon and Titania are fighting and have commandeered a few souls in a African-American community in Northern California. There’s a lot more to it than that, dealing with values, ethics, beliefs, and family, but it’s certainly an enjoyable dip into a fantasy world.

Not much to say about July, but...AUGUST!

In August I read “Water for Elephants” for our book group. Very enjoyable - just the right amount of fantasy, violence, sex, and exotic circus animals. The author wasn’t wholly successful creating a male protagonist - although she tried, he seemed a little on the feminine-sensitive side despite the bar brawl-type fights he got into.

by George R.R. Martin. It raised many questions, so now I’m re-reading the first book in the series, “A Clash of Kings”.
