construct a family emergency kit and put it where I'll find it when I need it

I got this idea from an emergency preparedness book. It’s a great way to use an awkward space! And, if there is flooding, a kit that’s hooked from above (and not sitting on the floor) won’t get as wet.

...around 9 PM and I still don’t have an emergency kit. DH was able to locate a flashlight, though, since Rosie has a fascination with them. We have a small collection of flashlights. After locating about 5 flashlights, we lit up her room to finish reading her bedtime books. She was really upset when it got dark!! Her room always has the dimmer on low—full dark is upsetting for her.
