Excited for November 3 years ago

I have a plot. I have characters. I have a world.

No title yet, but I’m sure something will come to me once I am actually writing the story.

I decided to write my novel for NaNoWriMo this year. I won last year and feel like I can tackle a more serious story this time. I’m so excited, because every time I start to talk about my characters more stories just fly out. My characters are just dying to reveal themselves to me, which makes me proud.

There is, however, one elf who is misbehaving. I don’t know anything about him. I might have to feed him to the first enemy that comes along if he keeps being stubborn and aloof.

The plot first came to me in the middle of the night. I had been blocked for about two months and hadn’t written anything. I couldn’t get a single poem out. I was trying to sleep and all of a sudden the image of this girl jumped into my head. I ran to the computer and a plot summary flew out. I’ve NEVER had anything be that easy for me. My muse must have come back from vacation!

I know that November will be here before I know it, but I’m really anxious to start writing.

Time to start organizing! 4 years ago

I’ve had a desire to write a fantasy novel for quite a while. Images, characters, and maps keep flashing through my head, taunting me to write about them.

However, this desire was largely ignored for two main reasons—I had never written any fantasy, and I had never written anything longer than 10 pages or so. I write mostly poetry and short stories.

Last month, however, I tackled the fear of writing something lengthy and did NaNoWriMo. I didn’t want to attempt my fantasy story, because I didn’t have any prep time and I’d really like to get some of the details together first. So, here I go, starting to sketch out my world and my characters!
