be a make-up artist

Thursday 7th December! I’m so excited!!! I’ve never actually been inside a proper college before, let alone an art one so i’m really excited and intrigued to see what it’s all about! I will most likely put these places down on my CAO applications for next year but I’m more interested in learning about the specifics of how to go about an art portfolio if I am to apply for a related course. I’m still dead set on the make-up thing. :) Plus I get to miss a whole day of school!!! What’s not to love?

in the post on friday! i had a read through and it seems like a great college, the Make Up and Technical effects courses are taught at the Lime Grove location which i think is in west london, if i’m not wrong. It’s supposed to be a really diverse and multicultural area so it sounds like my kinda place but i can’t get too ahead of myself. i have to ask my art teacher whats the deal with the portfolio cos i think theres a theme i have to choose which i wasn’t aware of before. i’m also thinking of applying to dun laoighre for the 2 year foundation make up course

ok so i’ve sent away for a 2008 prospectus for LCF. i’m hoping it will show them i’m interested and actually taking this seriously, i hope i’m not letting myself in for downfall if they don’t accept me but its still early yet and i have much time to prepare my portfolio. i’m gonna have to think of some other courses and colleges as a back up still

i do art in school and love it and i’ve always LOVED makeup, even since i was a little girl. I’ve got no training as of yet but as i don’t need a degree for this career i’m going to study something relatable in college and then after i will take a specialist course and set out to find some work. do you think the opportunities are most frequent in LA??? i hear the London College of Fashion do a bachelors in make-up artistry so i’m working on my portfolio right now to show the college how dedicated i am to this career! if anyones got any advice, please inform me, greatly appreciated! :)
