Re-committing 3 weeks ago

There are approximately six weeks between now and the end of the year. My goal is to accomplish this with the half-pushups, and perhaps a good percentage of full pushups.

Plateau? 3 months ago

I feel like I’ve hit a plateau on this one. I got through the full workout doing half push-ups, but couldn’t make it to 100. I started on regular push-ups to help improve my strength more, but I feel really stuck there too. I’m going to keep going with this, but it sure feels frustrating now!!!

Starting over, sort of 3 months ago

Well, to follow up on my last post, I attempted the hundred half push-ups, and didn’t come close. It’s amazing how much you can recharge yourself between smaller sets, I guess! So I took a short break and decided that since I wanted to go into full push-ups anyways, I would just start over. So today I did my initial test with full push-ups. I did 20. This is AMAZING to me, considering I could not even do ONE when I started this regimen. Starting off with a base of being one-fifth of the way there isn’t bad.
So, it begins again, and we’ll see how I do this time. I sure am motivated to complete this goal, but my arms aren’t quite there yet, I guess!

Finished Week 6, Day 3! 4 months ago

At the end of my set I did 57 (55 was my minimum). This was after doing 190 pushups in the previous sets. Pretty amazing to me after having my maximum be 15 at the end of Week 1, Day 1!
I’m not done yet—not only do I have to try for 100 in a few days, I plan to start over again doing regular (“good form”) push-ups, rather than the half push-ups I’ve done the past six weeks!

Week 3, Day 1 5 months ago

We’re officially 1/3 the way through, and are now at the same level. I’m continuing with the half pushups, and my husband does the regular ones. It’s getting hard now, so we’ll see how we hold up! :)

Starting this 5 months ago

My husband is interested in doing this with me. We did the initial test tonight and I did half of what he did. Except that he was doing real push-ups, and I was doing what he deemed “Colbert-style,” or the ones from the knees. I have NO upper-body strength so I can’t manage real push ups (yet?). It’d be such a big change that I’d call this goal done with 100 “girl” push-ups.

Impossible? 5 months ago

I’m fairly convinced this will be impossible for me, but I feel inspired by the training site that I saw browsing through here. I suspect that this will ultimately take me more than six weeks (read: I’ll need to repeat most weeks!), but it seems fun enough to try!

Weird. I never thought I’d call push-ups “fun.”
