Last time I talked about

What do I really need to be a good listener?

I need two main skills:

- To be an active listener.
- To learn how to communicate with people.

Ok, as a first step to be an active listener, I will start with the listening process how is it really works?

Let’s make it simple the person who is listening called the receiver and the one who is talking called the sender.

So the listening process happen through (Four Steps)

A. Hearing is the first step. At this stage, you simply pay attention to make sure you hear the message.

B. Interpretation. If you fail to interpret a speaker’s word correctly it may lead to a misunderstanding.

C. Evaluation. Decide what to do with the information you have received.

D. Respond. This is a verbal or visual response that lets the speaker know whether you have gotten the message and what your reaction is.

I would like to start today by asking a question why should we listen???

Because it is one of the affective ways to communicate with the others

Is it easy to listen to the others?

No it is not, because so many things fight for our attention and our mind. The speaker and the listener must both work hard when communicating to make sure each one gets the message.

What do I really need to be a good listener?

This is the second day, yesterday I just asked myself a simple question,

Why Should I Be a Good Listener?

Because good listening skills help me:

- Get along with others.
- Be a better parent.
- Work better at my jobs.
- Save time.
- Be more understanding & open minded person.
- To be respected and appreciated among people.

I think those are good reasons.

First of all, recognise that listening has to be learned. We teach children to speak and adults to speak in public, but we don’t teach listening – so it’s hardly surprising that most of us are not very good at it.

Why Should I Be a Good Listener?

Maybe because One Greek Philosopher Epictetus put it: “God gave man two ears but only one mouth that he might hear twice as much as he speaks.”
