In my research, I found this quote by Simone de Beauvoir on her intention for one of her novels:
“One of the principal themes that emerges from my story is that of repetition in the sense in which Kierkegaard uses that word: truly to possess something, one must have lost it and found it again….”
I find this to a be a freeing idea of the relationship between commitment and passionate. I feel relief after reading this.

I’ve come to the conclusion that people who have tempers must be people who live passionately. Tempers and instant anger acted out are all about living in the moment and acting on passion. I don’t have a temper, and I tend to think things out for a long time before I can act on anger. I’m always thinking of consequences from the past or to the future, which isn’t very passionate. Passion, I think, is “be here now.” I wonder if living passionately is different for different personality types.

I’m either not sure of how to do this, or maybe I do know but I associate that kind of behavior with recklessness.
