Last Wednesday it arrived! And I post from my new friend, Mortimer MacBook Pro. :) I’m still adjusting, but I like what I’ve seen so far. :)
Ended up with the 15” MBP, 2.6 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB 7200 RPM HD, with a bunch of the accessories…. the remote is very cool, even if it has to be purchased separately now. Still waiting for the airline adapter…. really hoping it will get here before I take a trip at the end of the month. Fortunately it’s not a long flight, so I should manage either way, but it would be nice. :)
All the best to the rest of your would be MBP owners. Definitely a worthwhile tech goal.

... as minor as they were, I’ve done it. I’ve ordered. Now to wait a little longer for the grand arrival. :) Yay!

So I’ve back-tracked and am not going to get Logic Express pre-installed. Am also waiting to see how/if the price changes when they finally update the MBP line…. I am pretty much surrendered to the idea of waiting for the update now.
I’ve got myself a sweet (legal) second hand deal and will be picking up Adobe CS2 Creative Suite Premium for Mac from a local design studio here in town. I can’t justify the price of the new version and know that even with its quirks, this will still be good for me. And also I will have the license transfer and can upgrade to CS3 if there comes a time I actually need it. This initial outlay may also delay the MBP purchase in itself… hopefully it will all come out well in the end.
I’m traveling at the end of March, so I hope I will have it by then!!! :D

I’m considering holding out for the next major upgrade for the MacBook Pro…. I was hopeful that it would come with the MacWorld conference this week, but so far not. In the meantime I’ll keep planning and saving…. eventually I’ll either breakdown and get it anyway, or will be rewarded for my patience! ;)

My current calculations say that I can order my MacBook Pro in mid-January! :) I even figured out that I could hold off on the extended Apple care plan and buy it later on. Plus I think I’ve decided to get Logic Express pre-installed to see how I like it. If it’s cool, I’ll get Logic Studio later on in the year.
Definitely getting excited. :)

I was a little down about this goal a week or two ago. I was originally hoping that I could somehow pull this off before the year was over. But alas, that doesn’t look likely.
However, I am more than halfway there in my saving and hopeful that I can order it in January. By the time the bill comes due, I should have the full amount saved up. Wuhhoo!! :)
Updating on my last entry, OS X Leopard is now being sold on all machines, so that’s super. :) 2.6 GHz is the faster processor speed, making my goal a little more pricey than before. But the fastest drive is now 200 GB which is nice. I don’t know what I saw about the display that night, but I haven’t seen it since.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to all the things I can do with the new machine. How I can do voice chats on there without having it sounds like I’m out on the tarmac at the airport. Or how I can take it with me when I travel. Or how I can sit down where it is warm and check my email or update Facebook or 43 things. Or how I can do tons and tons of music on there, making it my little powerhouse for creativity. Actually, it will be wonderful for a little graphic work on the side too. Will it be expensive, yah, you bet. But, it will be a worthwhile investment that will last me for years and years. And will help make communicating with words and with music so much easier and more fun. Hurrah!!! It won’t be much longer now! :)

Here’s what I’m planning on at the moment:
Waiting for OS X Leopard to come out and be fully supported. This shouldn’t be an issue, since it should be available by the time I save enough.
2GB RAM (I’d go with the full 4GB, but I just can’t justify it for the price it’s at right now. I’ll save that for an upgrade in the far off future.)
The fastest available processor and fastest available hard drive (even if it isn’t the biggest storage-wise). At the moment, that’s 2.4 GHz and the 160GB 7200 RPM HD.
The NOT glossy display. ACTUALLY, just checking now and they’ve also got a high res. option they didn’t have before. I’ll have to consider that. I might pay the extra for that. Can’t change that later on.
Might as well buy the USB modem from the start. I’m old school and feel very uncomfortable without a modem. There are some days high speed just doesn’t work, or exist!
I should consider that airline adapter. I know I can buy it later, but, in for a penny, in for a pound!
Sadly, with their updating, it looks like the price has gone up… or something. But, I’ll get there. This will be my last computer purchase for a while, so it’s going to be EXACTLY what I want and need. It’s going to be worth the $$$, I tell you! :)
