Turns out, I already had the motivation. I just needed the place and the time to do it.
I now have a 24 Fitness membership. No excuses!

I start, then I stop. Start, stop. Work out for a solid week, then don’t for a ween and a half.
There’s a part to this that I’m missing. Maybe it’s motivation, or a good place to work out. I think it’s a combination of both….I need to get on that 24 hour fitness membership!!
...is hard to do when you don’t really know any structured exercises. Ah, how I love the internet! Exercise videos free and on demand are wonderful! I now have a better idea of how to use my exercise ball, won’t have to pay extravagant amounts of money to practice yoga, and have a wealth of knowledge about how to do cardio when it’s too cold to go running outside (which will be a downfall for me in the winter…)
Yay!
It’s really hard to get back into it! I did well last week, but this week is a much different story. It’s like a wormhole that sucks up all of my time has appeared and I don’t have a spare moment to eat as healthy as I should, let alone work out….I’m hoping that with all of my classes coming to a close and the last concert of the semester upon me I’ll have some time to breathe and maybe exercise a little!
I ran for three days, running for 3 minutes then walking for 90 seconds and repeating the sequence 3 more times.
Next week (starting on Monday) I will run for 4 minutes, walk for one minute, and repeat 3 more times.
I went running on Monday and Wednesday. I’ve been doing intervals – running for three minutes then walking for 90 seconds, and repeating for 4 cycles. It feels like a productive way to run so far…
I’m going to go again tomorrow after rehearsal.
I didn’t work out yesterday. I wish I could say I had a valid reason, but I didn’t. I had no reason whatsoever for not going to the gym today.
Before the sun goes down today I’m going to go to the trail by my house and at least go for a walk.
After a disappointing 5K and life getting crazy after the summer ended I really just started to neglect the awesome work-out schedule that I had built up. Luckily I hadn’t gained more than the 5 pounds I had lost…but that doesn’t make it any better.
On Wednesday I have a date with my best friend and a treadmill. I really want to start working toward this goal again.
So, it’s been in the high 90’s all week. Today it got over 100, and the weather isn’t supposed to get below 90 for at least another week. Does anyone have any suggestions for at-home work out that doesn’t have an involved risk of heat stroke (note: I have no a/c…)?
Last week I went and played Bingo with my Mom and ended up winning $100! I decided that the perfect thing to do with this random money would be to get some good shoes….
I bought a pretty good pair of New Balance running shoes. The last time I bought a special pair of functional shoes was when I bought my jazz boots for dancing about 10 years ago, so I was pretty excited!
Anyhow, I really tried them out for the first time today, and I just have to say that having the right shoes really does make all the difference in the world. My knees don’t hurt, my hips don’t feel like they are going to dis-locate, and I went farther and faster than I’ve been able to go so far.
It’s exciting how much of a difference footwear can make…
