My Grampy’s health has deteriorated further in the last 3 months with a few more extended stays in the hospital, but it was nice being able to celebrate his 86th Birthday with everyone this past Sunday. He still blew out his candles no problem. :)
Cake, icecream, and Red Sox baseball. (World Cup between innings, since he obviously gets his choice of viewing)
I could talk about health issues or I could list fun facts about my Grampy – I’ll choose the latter :)
- He has had a PC longer than I have and knows all the old-school DOS utilities and keyboard shortcuts young people don’t know exist ;)
- He calls his Desktop his Icon Board. That is my favorite name ever.
- He’s still a licensed CPA at 86!
- He loves Geneology and has a very large family tree mapped of everyone he knows (and more, I’m sure) and has it written up for a book too.

I visited my grampy (85 going on 86) while he was in the ICU this week (he got released today, still going strong) and ended up arriving just as my grammy (82) and an aunt were. He was asleep, so I spent a half an hour in the waiting room with my grammy just talking.
At this point, both of them are highly curious about my relationship status and I ended up getting treated to the story of how my grandparents first met and started seeing each other. Once he woke up, I got to spend time with them while he enjoyed his first real meal in several days. After more inquisition, his nurse for the night came by and he commented on our age similarity which was embarassing (especially since she was the cutest nurse ever).
I got home late (after 8pm) and starving after this stop on my way home from work, but I came away with some really great memories.

I visited my Grammy and Grampy last weekend, and I want to try to visit every other week. It’s very apparent that they are aging these days, but they are still cheery and loving. I also need to visit my Nana more often; she is the best cook in the world.
