Learn to use my sewing machine

My hubby recently pulled out the sewing machine so we could create some custom ferret beds. He did all the work, so can’t consider this accomplished, but it did remind me that it’s easier than I’ve been making it in my mind. Hope this encourages me to pull it out myself and try some of my own projects.

About a year ago, my mom gave me her sewing machine. In the midst of chaos, she gave me a crash course on how to make up bobbin’s, how to thread the machine and the most basic of general instructions. Since then, I’ve never even taken it out of it’s case. It’s strange…cuz I’m crafty but feel some resistence regarding my ability to sew. A friend asked me to make a rock pouch…and even though it would have taken about 5 seconds on a sewing machine, I spent about an hour hand sewing it. It turned out ok…but I don’t really understand my lack of confidence in figuring out how to sew with this tool.

My goal is to overcome my fear and set up the *%$#@ machine and at least practice with it a bit. I’m sure once I get over my inital fears I can open a whole new creative outlet!
