read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser

Ok…so I’m still disturbed. The concept of feeding cow parts to cows, chicken parts to chicken, pork parts to pigs…yikes! That just can’t be good, no matter how much of a financial role it plays. These animals were not meant to be cannibals and I wonder what the long term effect this practice could have on all of us.

And can I just say for the record that NO AMOUNT of feces should be acceptable in our food.

Not sure what to do from here, but I’ll never look at a hamburger the same way. And I most likely won’t be eatin’ Tyson chicken either.

I’ve begun the book, though I’m only on page 71. So far, not sure how I feel about how much of a role fast food has had in shaping our food sources and so many other factors. On one hand, kudos to a bunch of drop outs for finding their niche and carving out their fortunes…but at what overall cost to the masses?

I have to say I was a bit disgusted to see how schools have sold out to corporate america for additional funding. I think it’s pitiful that these companies are using contributions as leverage to get into our kids minds and ‘establish brand loyalty’. Makes home schooling look better and better…not to mention who wants their kids eating fast food at school all week long. That can’t be good for them!

I’m now reading about the growth of Colorado Springs…and after living in Denver I could definitely see the “Californication” process taking hold.

I can’t say I’m angry about what I’m reading, but it is causing a lot of discomfort and red flags popping up around me;) I’ll keep you posted as I get further along.

Got the book yesterday in the mail. I haven’t started it yet, but will try to this week. All of a sudden I have so many books to read;) However, I’m looking forward to delving into this one! Thanks for the nudge;)

Got my confirmation that the book has been sent. It won’t be long now and I’ll be able to start reading.

Step 1…ordered the book. It should arrive within the next 2 weeks. $7 bucks and some change. Not too shabby;)
