Assortment: here goes 2 years ago

OK, I am cheating here. When I don’t listen to NPR, I ‘scan’ the other stations and some songs that I always stop at are

A melange under #10

Abba: Dancing Queen
The Coors: Breathless
Liz Phair: Why can’t I breathe
Dido: Sand in my shoes
Gwen Stefani: Sweet escape
Gloria Estefan: Conga
Sheryl Crowe: Everyday is a winding road
Tina Turner: What’s love got to do with it
Michael Buble: Save the last dance for me
Eddie Money: Two tickets to paradise
Fly like an eagle: Steve Miller
Most Phil Collins

Take it easy, don’t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy…

OK, OK.. I will stop. I did add more, but I don’t know the singer/band names… :)

So , wouldn’t you say.. I pretty much like everything

Simon and Garfunkel! 2 years ago

All of S & G!

The Beatles! 2 years ago

Before coming to the US, I did not have much exposure to Western Music. The only thing I remember is listening to Funkytown and something called Bonium when I visited my grandmother and my uncle was listening to it. I don’t know if I got Bonium correctly. I was in for a surprise when I got married. My husband had some music on when we went to sleep. I got up and switched it off and he said, “Oh no no! Put it back on! I cannot sleep without music.”. Huh.. and I could not sleep with it on. And the unfamiliar English lyrics were driving me crazy. Well, suffice to say, after 16 years of marriage, I go with the flow. I hardly ever listen to South Indian Carnatic music or Tamil songs. But slowly I started getting used to my husband’s huge collection of CDs and started liking them at first, then falling in love with some. After I started driving, around 1997, I started listening to the radio in the car and expanded my repertoire a bit more. So with this background, here goes,

I love the Beatles.. yes, all of it.

Almost anything from "The Police" 2 years ago

7. I like pretty much anything by “The Police”. Particularly

Every little thing she does is magic
De do do do, daa daa daa, is all I want to say to you
Don’t stand, don’t stand, don’t stand so close to me

:)

I really cannot choose 10. 2 years ago

Today’s choice: THE WEEPIES
“Say I am you” album

6a.“Take it From Me”come on take it

What can I compare you to, a favorite pair of shoes?
Maybe my bright red boots if they had wings
Funny how we animate colorful objects saved
Funny how it’s hard to take a love with no sting.

But come on take it, come on take it, take it from me
But come on take it, come on take it, take it from me (we`ve got a good life).

What can I compare you to, a window the sun shines through?
Maybe the silver moon, a smile rising
The magic of the fading day, satellites on parade
A toast to the plans we’ve made to live like kings.

I lose my breath despite the air
When the rain falls down I give in to despair
Pink magnolia in winter she doesn’t care
if you don’t show up to have another cup.

What can I compare you to, when everything looks like you?
I get a bit confused with every Spring
Flowers that bloom your eyes, hummingbirds side by side
My heart won’t stay entirely in this rib caging

6b. Same album, I have gotta have you

No amount of coffee, no amount of crying
No amount of whiskey, no amount of wine
No, no, no, no, no, nothing else will do
I’ve gotta have you, I’ve gotta have you.

6c. Riga girls..same album

Just a little bit of snake oil, tin foil
It takes so little charm to keep you hanging on
But it’s a facade like the sky, like the moon, like your eyes

Oh drat, the lyrics in all the songs of this album are great.

5a. Fleetwood Mac: Gypsy.. Stevie Nicks

Because I oscillate wildly from geek to gypsy.
And I love Stevie Nicks.
And I love the instrumental towards the end of the song.

5b. Seven wonders..well I told you I like Stevie Nicks

;)

If I live to see the seven wonders
I’ll make a path to the rainbows end
I’ll never live to match the beauty again

I will do it one at a time 2 years ago

I confess I am not good with English songs, but there are a few that grab me.

I will add as I go along. Well, the reason is pretty self explanatory

1. Forever young: Rod Stewart
2. Unwritten: Natasha Bedingfield
3. I will survive: Gloria Gaynor
4. I hope you dance: don’t remeber the singer

Will be back with more
:)
