do more gardening

I pruned the dead buds from the rose bushes today – even though I requested the gardeners to do it yesterday.
I also put down some woodchips on a couple of garden beds and started off a new cycle of compost.

I did a bit of weeding and planted some sunflower seeds. I reeeaaally hope something lovely will grow.

Potted some dill and more basil and mint today.

Today I planted the fuschia plant that I bought at the fuschia cafe on the weekend.

Today I got 6 cuttings from some of my succulent plants which are thriving and planted them in our back garden which is a bit sparse. It’s also difficult to plant much there because the soil is so poor but I think these will do ok.

Some potted herbs from last year are beginning to flourish again –
oregano, chives, sage, pineapple sage and thyme.
Today I bought some punnets of parsley and coriander and also basil seeds which I’ll plant this evening.
I’m looking forward to the tantalising herbal flavours in my cooking again.

After a bit of discussion with my husband, we’ve decided that we don’t have enough space to plant a magnolia tree.
I think I’ll still plant a Bird of Paradise – Hopefully it will grow ok in the Tassie climate and our poor soil.
I need to plant some more herbs and I might give strawberries a go…

I planted some daphne and a protea in the garden. I bought 8x potted colour for the verandah. I also tidied up the potted garden on the veranda.
It was such a beautiful almost Spring’s day and I felt very inspired.
I must get onto pruning all my rose bushes next.
