Not amazingly difficult nor creative but it was really the first time I’d experimented with sizings. I had to get this exact so it would upload properly on Etsy.

Not perfect.
I find it quite complicated and tedious actually but I’m sure once I’ve had more practice it will take less time and less of my patience.
Ru, thanks so much for your ‘tutorial’. You taught me some great tricks I didn’t even realise existed.
using a photo of my husband. Evil!
I think he has GIMP for me. Does anyone use this? What’s it like?
I’ve done 3 of the 8 extensive lessons from this program.
They’re quite complex as they aren’t really for total beginners like myself and it does assume you already have a basic understanding. Hopefully I will retain memory of some of the methods. As part of the tutorial you have to follow the steps using the graphics provided. In this one I added the effects of the top text on the wall.

One thing which I thought I’d be able to work out easily. Takes a few steps but not difficult once you know how.

Because I’d never really understood the whole layers concept, I’d never known how to add text to a picture. Easy now that I’ve grasped the basics.
Fun!

The actual result from following these instructions wasn’t nice at all so I tweaked it a bit more. Not hugely impressed. May need to try it on a different image.

I watched 3 online Photoshop tutorials today and had a play around.

I’m far from impressed with Photoshop because it’s so fiddly and I think it’s more complicated then need be, however it really seems to be the only program which does have a huge variety of functions.
Here is one picture I made while watching the tutorials. Far from perfect but I at least know how to get rid of backgrounds and use different layers now.
Edited to add: I just watched another tutorial and using the magnetic lasso tool would actually be easier than using the pen tool to select the area. I think I’ll do that from now on instead.
