updates on how i'm doing 22 months ago

well… i’ve got to the point where i’ve quit my job!
in one month time i’ll be self-employed, so am currently trying to get another 4 or 5 sites up and running.

interestingly i’ve had quite a few offers of freelance work too, so can always fall back on that.

latest site i’ve created is in conjunction with a chap who sells telephony services – international freephone numbers and things like that – to businesses. this is the site: http://www.worldnetconnect.co.uk
so if anyone needs a freephone number for customers in a range of countries, please use it, as i get a small commission!

changes in lifestyle 2 years ago

I’m still in the same job, but still trying to get my internet stuff going – some big changes in my life outside work have slowed plans dramatically, but i’m turning the corner again.

got an application in for a new flat, and when i’m set up with broadband there again, i’ll be getting right back into the swing of it all. plans to be self-employed by september are no longer looking realistic, but i’m hoping now that by 2008 i’ll be totally self-sufficient and won’t have to turn up to a 9-5 grind.

gym membership 3 years ago

i’ve started yet another site – this one targetting the january rush for getting fit and healthy!

http://www.gym-membership.co.uk is a site about… well, gym membership!!

a guide to whether you should fork out the money, or go to the local council leisure centre. and it also has some deals for saving people money at the big chains of gyms. (while also making me a small commission!)

so i’m hoping that come january i’ll be adding to my income with a bit of cash from fat people signing up to get fit!

Hosting Sites 3 years ago

Well i’ve made some progress in terms of setting up a good hosting service – http://www.mswebhosting.co.uk

i’m already hosting a number of sites, and have teamed up with another guy in order to offer a range of hosting services, and also so there’s 2 of us running support for the services.

if it all goes to plan, a steady income from that will get me well on the way to working for myself full time….

more sites 3 years ago

as you can see from the previous post, i’ve got one site that’s doing ok – it’ll gradually make me bits of cash, but it’s never going to make my fortune, so i’ve got to DIVERSIFY.

so for starters, i’ve got another site http://www.england-football-shirts.co.uk which is ranking again, reasonably on MSN, but awfully on google.

i’m trying to post links in forums, and directories, but it’s tough going. i think perhaps some link exchanges might be a good idea – so i’m going to research some places to do this from and post back here with my progress…

and that can only mean one thing 3 years ago

working for yourself.

it’s the only way to get true job satisfaction.

problem is, i’ve got 24k of debt, and can’t afford the risk of quitting my daytime job until either i’ve paid it off, or am earning more than i do now.

my solution? websites. i’m a web designer, and i reckon i must be able to sort out a few sites, rank them on the search engines, and rake in commissions from advertising on them.

i’ll keep you posted on how it’s all going.

my first site http://www.cricket-shirts.co.uk has been up for a couple of months, and it’s going ok so far. it took 6 weeks to get it up on MSN search and since then, i’ve made $40 in two weeks. not life-changing, but it’s a start, and i’m looking for steady growth – remember, a GREAT JOB is, in my book, having 10 websites each earning me at least $300 a month. that’s my aim.
