improve my writing

Although it’s not as personally rewarding as writing IMO, you can learn a lot about writing by reading about writing. I recommend How to Write a Damn Good Novel by James N. Frey with no hesitation.

Every book about writing I’ve read so far, except the one above, have been mostly crap with a few good point. Do the novel writing crowd have any recommendations (preferably without the crap ;) )?

I love to write. It is as simple as that. But it sure is getting increasingly harder to find the time. Hopefully my university study will get less demanding as time goes by.
