working on tranferring some of the slides for their planetarium shows into powerpoint, and updating some of the images with more recent photos from hubble. it was an awesome project, and i spent a lot of my own spare time on it. however, they went through a lot of staff changes and the stuff i was working on slipped off their ‘must do’ radar, so i haven’t done any work for them for a while. i miss it.
my job puts me in touch with a lot of volunteer folks (in the field of adult literacy work) so i understand that there is a delicate balance in the timing of getting a volunteer, training them, then using them for something. i know, professionally speaking, my feelings shouldn’t be hurt, because there will be a right time for them to use me again, but i can’t help but feel a little pushed to the side. (poor me…get over it, i know!) :)
so in the meantime, i’ve been volunteering elsewhere, but i honestly don’t have the same passion for it that i did at the science musuem. plus, i think it’s so important for our area to have a science museum, that i want to support it any way that i can.
