10K in 44:52, I am very happy 3 weeks ago

I am getting closer and closer to my goal! Today I ran the Rivas-Vaciamadrid 10K race, and I managed to finish it under 45 minutes! This means a pace of 7:13 per mile, which means this is the fastest 10K I have ever ran :)

It has not been easy at all, but I am trying a new technique (which consists in running as fast as I can the first minute of each kilometre and then run at a more comfortable pace until the next kilometre). I have improved a lot.

It is time to sign up for another race!

10K in 46:05.14 1 month ago

I took part in a race some weeks ago and I can say now I am able to run a 10K in 46:05.14, which is a pace of 7:24 min/mile. This is my PB in a 10K, and I hope to improve in the next months.

I also blogged about this (only in Spanish).

I signed up for another another 10K in Rivas, next 29th November. I am very excited.

At just 27 hundreths 13 months ago

I don’t know why, but for some reason I ran very fast this morning. I did my usual 10K in just 48:44.09, which means I didn’t break my PB for just 27 hundreths! What did I eat yesterday?

10K in 51:59.55 - again under 52min 14 months ago

After the “break” I am doing better again. Hope to run 10Ks under 50min soon.

Restarting about 10Ks - once more 14 months ago

Success is not about doing things without falling down, but about standing up each time we fall. Last month I have no t been running a lot, because I wanted to finish a translation into Italian and I didn’t sleep too much, so I was too tired to run. Now I am sleeping better, and that’s why I am running again.

The good news is that my hip is in a perfect state. After all, not running may have been very good to heal it; better than I would if I had not been working on the translation!

Running 10Ks again! 16 months ago

Yesterday I run my first 10K after my hip/thigh/whatever injury. It has been one month with no long or middle runs, but now I’m starting again. And I am happy, because my hip is not complaining too much after 24h, and… it wasn’t a bad run at all: I did it in less than 50 min! :)

Maybe I will be able to fulfill this goal by November.

Still resting 17 months ago

I have been resting since Monday because of my iliotibial band :( No running for the moment…

4K in 17:58.42! 17 months ago

Just 35 hundredths faster than previously, but a new PB after all!

And also I did the first km in 4:19.66, my fastest recorded km. This is especially important for me, because as far as I know this is the first time I run a sub 7min/mile kilometre. It is difficult thinking I should make 10 km like this one, but it is feasible, and I will work hard for that.

Getting through the 5 mile challenge 17 months ago

Yesterday I have been running the 5 mile race of the Dublin Marathon Series. It was great, as I wanted to do it in at least 37:47, and I did it in 37:07!

(The reason for the 37:47 is that my sub-goal for this month was to run 10km in 46:59, which in 5 miles means 37:47).

So, now I can run 5 miles at 7:25 min/mile, I still have almost two months to reduce that to 7 min/mile, and increase the 5 miles to 10 km!

4K record! 18 months ago

Today I broke for the first time the 18 minute barrier for the 4K, I ran it in 17:58.77, which means I have been running at a ~7:14 min/mile pace. So to achieve this goal I just have to improve those 14 sec/mile and keep going for other 6 km.

Not easy, but possible. That’s what makes it exciting!
