For work reasons I finally could not start this goal in July, as I wanted. In August I will have other duties, so I am not going to be able to do this goal this year, as from September nights will be longer, and I prefer to cycle during the daytime.
However, sooner or later I will do this, as I think it is a pretty nice idea. I have been flying many times between Spain/Italy and Ireland, but I always did this in just two or three hours, which never gave me the real idea of what was the real distance.

I am thinking more and more about this goal. I think I will do it next summer. Probably June or July. If I run again the Achill Island Half Marathon next year, I will probably start doing this goal after the race.
June is too far at the moment to plan this more accurately, as I don’t know what will be then my professional duties, and I will be living in Spain there. Two hours flying… and two weeks to go back!
Anyway, it must be done when days are long, which means summer.

I wanted to do this in October, but days will be shorter than nights by then, so maybe it is better to leave it for next summer.
Anyway, I have been checking an option:
1) From Dublin to Rosslare: ~130 km (1-2 days)
2) Ferry from Rosslare to Fishguard: half a day
3) From Fishguard to Weymouth: ~340 km (3-6 days)
4) Ferry from Weymouth to Saint-Malo: half a day?
5) From Saint-Malo to the Spanish border: ~680 km (6-11 days)
6) From the French border to Madrid: ~430 km (3.5-7 days)
Total cycling distance: ~1580 km.
Total time: between two and four weeks.

No idea when I will fulfill this goal, but I really would like to do it. Around 1700 km cycling + two boats. Enough for a couple of weeks!
