write and read stories for children

I put my sheep story together in a book form (with a cover and sewn signatures and everything) for a child. I loved looking at the story in this completed form, turning the pages and reading the story gave me such pleasure! I had to title the story in order to do this, which I’ve been resisting for a long time, but it was good to be forced to do it. I can change it in the future if I want to, but for now it’s called “Never Underestimate a Sheep that Dreams”.

I’ve got my sheep story edited to a point that I’m quite happy with.  I like the ending much more now than ever before, and I’ve cut out a lot of unnecessary bits so the story reads cleanly.  Thanks a lot to Rosewilder for her editing suggestions and encouragement!!
Now I’d like to see about publishing it.  It’s too long for magazine publication.  I’ve got an idea for self-publication that could work well I think – even if it doesn’t put much money in my pocket I’m fairly confident I would break even on it.  But my first choice would be for a publishing company to fall in love with it and do all the work for me.  So it’s time to write an email to my cousin’s partner – the person I know who knows the most about publishing.  I’m a bit intimidated to do this, though I’m not sure why – she’s a lovely person and I think she’ll have a lot of positivity and good info to offer.

Reading Momo now, by the same author as The Neverending Story, which I absolutely loved (in movie form) as a kid. It was a gift from a friend who knows how to give good gifts.

I’ve almost finished a first draft of my story. I’m trying not to turn into a perfectionist before it’s healthy to do so; trying to remember that writing is a process and my story won’t become what I want it to be if I just wrinkle my nose up at it.

Dad asked what I want in a package he’ll be sending me soon, and I looked on Amazon.com for a guide to writing children’s stories. There were a lot to choose from and I didn’t have the time to research which one would be best, so I used a different method to pick one: one of the books was by an author with the last name LAMB!

I´ve been writing down a story that my mind has been playing with for a little while. Playing is more fun than writing with all of it´s details and exactness, but reading what I´ve written is fun too so I´ll keep on writing. I´m telling enough people about it that I feel I´ve created some accountability. My story will be completed soon!!!

I just read The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe for the first time since my childhood. The story I´ve been writing is coming along, but slowly.
