Start at what level of interest you have. Do not run for school board or local office unless this really inspires you. If you are keen on state issues, then run for legislature. Or if it is national issues that you wish to articulate your opinions on then run for Congress. It is easier than it may seem. For instance, if you spend less than $5,000 you have no FEC reporting requirements.
