become a midwife

Well I am sitting here watching the birth center on Discovery health and wishing that I could be doing that already! Just think if things had worked out the first time I started learning… I would have been finished and delivering babies by now!.... oh well but at least I can sit here and swat up on Anatomy.. or my math! I suck at math!...

I have been reading a book called Pushed I havent got very far in the book yet but already its a great read it makes me very angry at the US medical establishment but more determined to get into the field…. I cant wait to infom women that they have a choice and that you dont HAVE to be induced or any of the other numerous medical procedures that they make sound soo important!!

Well I was reading on one of my groups that you dont actually need any formal training at all, I was under the impression that you needed to take some kind of course to do it but, yep you dont. So I am thinking that with experience in 5 births (all my own)I should be able to do this with no problem at all! but I think that one of my other goals is going to have to be achieved before I can actually do this although I live within a few miles of the hospitals I am sure that it would be easier to do if I could actaully drive! so who knows hopefully this year when everything else get sorted out I can do this and it would give me some good birthing experience with out it being me that is giving birth!

Well this one like a few of the other “things” on my list are on hold right now due to my pregnancy I dont think that I could handle 3 kids under 5 and a college course but obviously I have got to change my status in this country than go one step at a time to get there! I think that GED/high school equvilancy is first… then we will see what happens from there!

well firstly I have got to complete an access course first to get the qualification that I need to get into college but then I am up up and away with this goal its something I have wanted to do since I was 18 and giving birth to my first child the midwife was great and I thought that is what I am going to do with the rest of my life now 10 years later I am here thinking about doing it and thinking that now should be the perfect time although I have got a nearly 3 yr old and a 15 month old at home its going to be hard but I know that I can do it if I put my mind to it and it will be even easier in the UK because I can get all of my education paid for!!
