paint my apartment

I thought I’d share what I did with my sons room. Im sort of proud of it considering what I had to work with. By the way IKEA is awesome.

Am I bored or what? At least I’m enjoying it. The kitchen I painted the cabinets gray and the walls are are a peachy orange and the tiles are stone with grays,browns,cream, and burnt orange. I like cooking more for some reason. Its feels sort of rustic and homey like. What’s expensive is changing your mind. The rooms arent larger than less than a gallon. So depending on your painting and materials its about lets say 15/20 dollars. Im still using brushes from my very first paint project. Now its time to buy more. A flat paint from Walmart is about $10 and about the same at home depot.

Today I went to home depot and sorted through paint cards for like 2 hours. I actually wanted to go for a gold that had an old world map feel and look. Well while waiting for 2 other painter’s to mix up I went to look again for a turquoise and then I ran across a mineral red. Needless to say I changed my mind at the mix station. So I get home it looks rose so I add a bit of dark red and burgundy to darken it up but its supposed to be a washed out red. I love it. Ill post a picture later my batteries are dead. A red hallway is the way to go. So much for turquoise. Maybe Ill use it for an accent wall.

I paint almost once a week. I’ve actually painted a room twice. My bedroom was a very exotic copper. It looked like a brand new penny. I painted it over it with a muted gray for that somewhat gothic look. I love it its so relaxing. When I paint its more therapeutic for me. I think a about what I like to do with myself and have come to quite a few resolutions. My latest project is the kitchen, next room the bathroom. Have fun. The apartment people dont seem to mind theyve been in a few times and never said a word. I’ve even retiled their kitchen and bathroom. I love and enjoy adding my little bit of me to my place. Since I haven’t yet decided to own a house. I seriously got tired of the white walls. Worst case scenario I’ll have to paint it back. Who knows the next tenant might like it. By the way the apartment that I live in is really not top notch but I like it that way. That way I dont really feel guilty for updating their look.
