Succeed in my new job

I originally intended this goal for my new paralegal position when I returned to work in January, then for the next paralegal position I held, and then in July, this was meant for my new position in IT. I have certainly struggled with some of the technical aspects of this job, and while it’s too early to claim success, I’m marking this one as done since I am out of my probation period.

This goal hasn’t turned out the way I thought. I really was not happy in the first job I had when I came back to work in January. Fortunately, in May another position opened up. I spent a month doing both jobs, and finally turned over the responsibilities for the old position.

Shortly after I finished the transition, a non-legal position opened up in the firm. I was officially offered the job yesterday. YIPPEE!! However, I have to wait to begin that position until my replacement is hired.

I am excited and nervous, but I think this will really be a good fit for me.

But I am finally getting into the swing of things. I still have a lot to learn, though.

The firm knew they’d hire me back (well, it had to, but it did want me back) anyway, but where? I had a job interview for a paralegal position in a completely different field of field on Monday. I was nervous that the team was being forced to interview me and didn’t really want to re-train me, but it turns out that they really did want me. But just before I came in, another position opened up, this one much closer to my old specialty. Basically both positions were mine to refuse, which was a nice position to be in. :-)

I took the second position, because I think I’ll do better with it in both the short and long run. I hope so. I start next Monday.
