3 more finished! 2 years ago

The Maltese Falcon was excellent! So I’m going to share my story right now. It starts with how I’m in love with Audrey Hepburn. I remember staying up until 3 in the morning to finish watching Wait Until Dark on TCM as well as watching Funny Face and The Nun’s Story. The first movie I saw with her was Charade. It’s so good. I truely love that movie. Cary Grant is in that with her, and I instantly decided that he was amazing. Who wouldn’t think that with the way he delivers lines like “How about you make me vice president in charge of cheering you up.” Anyway, I also saw Sabrina, and also felt the same about Humphrey Bogart. He’s so awesome! Since then I’ve always had a problem deciding which of the two I liked more. I think I’ve seen more Cary Grant movies than Bogart ones, but after The Matlese Falcon, I think I may have to go with him.

I also watched Some Like It Hot, which was great, and North By Northwest, which also had Cary Grant. I’ve been telling people at work about Some Like It Hot all week! I thought that one was really awesome. North By Northwest was pretty good too. Grant had some really funny lines in that. lol. To me though, I think from what I’ve seen, Grant character’s are so cool, but they’re always complaining at first about the situation when it starts to involve them. Bogart kept his cool and was just flat out sweet. They’re definetly my top two favourite classic actors, just as Audrey Hepburn is my favourite classic actress. I’m looking forward to seeing more with all of them.

79 more! Tonight I rented The Tresure of the Sierra Madre, for more Bogart action(!) as well as another Cary Grant movie called To Catch a Thief. It was only after I got home that I realized that the second one isn’t actually on the list. oh well, it is a Hitchcock movie, and I’ve seen so few of those as it is, so no worries!

I tell ya, that car's dirty! 2 years ago

So where I last left off, I finished The Graduate (amazing) and I took that back and rented two more. I picked up The French Connection and The Maltese Falcon. I got a little busy this week, and finally watched The French Connection last night. I was a little confused at first, but by the end I got pretty into it. I’ve been seeing a lot of Gene Hackman stuff as of late, and Roy Scheider, lol…his name should have just been Brody in this one too. I ended up watching it with my parents. I practically never watch anything with them anymore, just because they pretty much hate every movie we ever see and give the same reaction every time which is “eh, it was okay..” They’ll also just get up and walk away in the middle of it and get a snack or something to that effect. That bothers me so much sometimes! Anyway, they actually stayed and watched it all, and when it ended, my dad said he really liked it, which I was shocked to hear! The only thing he didn’t like was the ending…just cause it, ends. Looking for the image to post above, I found out that they made a sequel! So now I want to see that too. 82 more!

And as far as The Maltese Falcon goes, they’re due back tonight, and I don’t think I’m gonna be able to watch it and be done before midnight. SO…being the rebel I am, I’m gonna watch it in the morning and pay my dollar late fee! haha. Then I’m gonna get two more to see sometime this week. Let’s keep the train going!

Lets have a nightcap together. 2 years ago

Tonight after work, I layed down and finally put in The Graduate. I rented it like 2-3 days ago, and just haven’t had time yet till now. But oh man, I really loved this movie. I always knew I would when I would think about it. I remember when Garden State came out, I heard things about how it was similar styles and a tribute in a way to The Graduate. Garden State is one of my most favourite movies, and after hearing that, I REALLY wanted to see this one, though I still don’t know why I never did. I was close so many times to just picking it up at the store to own. But yeah, this movie is really great. Definetly one to own. Becki says Murry Hamilton is awesome in it, which I totally agree with, but I was so shocked to see Mr. Feeney in it too…and to see him so young! I love Boy Meets World sooooooo much.

p.s. simon and garfunkel add 4 more gold stars to this movie. I kept singing along in my head to all the songs.

War, what is it good for. 2 years ago

I too, can knock Platoon off the list. I thought it was pretty decent for a war movie. Willem Dafoe was awesome!

Next up is The Manchurian Candidate and The Graduate. Yes, I didn’t type anything wrong, I have not seen the Graduate. EVERYONE I have ever talked to goes insane when they learn this. I will finally be able to join them.

My OCD happened to notice that Platoon is number 83 on the list and I now have 83 more to watch total! I’m so lame!

Apollo Creed vs.The Italian Stallion....it sounds like a monster movie. 2 years ago

So far so good. I’ve been trying to do one a day. I went to a friends house for a movie night, and from what he had, I picked Taxi Driver. That movie was really unique. I liked it a lot. I don’t recall seeing another movie quite like that. It was interesting to see just the slow decline of Travis from a semi-normal guy trying to get by to selfserving his own way of justice. Ha, there’s my little mini review.

My first pick on my own was of course ROCKY. wow. I can’t believe how amazing I thought this movie was! I’ve told so many people that I’ve seen it before. I kinda did, but it was when I was really young and have since forgoten everything. I always knew I would love it. I’ve been posing though for so long, cause I forgot so much of it, and I would walk around wearing my Rocky t-shirt. I was really close to buying the box set, but then I decided to wait when I heard they were making number VI. I want to see the other 4, and then watch Rocky Balboa at the cheap theatres when it gets there. So in closing, Rocky is awesome.

I’m gonna take back Taxi Driver today, and try to rent another one off the list for tonight, then I was told Platoon is on Thursday night, so I’ll be checking that out, since I got that day off! (interweb) movie night?

86 to go.... 2 years ago

I remember watching the special when it aired announcing the 100 greatest movies. What I don’t remember is being aware of how few I’ve actually seen. I couldn’t believe it. After going back to check, these are the only ones I’ve seen.

71. FORREST GUMP
64. CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND
60. RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK
58. FANTASIA
55. THE SOUND OF MUSIC
49. SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS
48. JAWS
41. WEST SIDE STORY
34. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
25. E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL
22. 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY
15. STAR WARS
6. THE WIZARD OF OZ

........that’s it! I’m so disappointed. This will go on no more. It starts tonight! I am now accepting applications for movie night partners. I’m looking your way BR. Lets finish whatever ones we have left when you get back. For now, I gotta start catching up!
