I’m going to stop worrying about making new friends for now. If more friends come my way that’s great. I already know a lovely bunch of people I can call friends, so what if most of them are male. So I’m changing this goal to “spend more time with friends” (I’m basically dropping the bit about making new friends, that’s how this goal started for me).
Yesterday I had a blast with some friends that came for dinner, first time we meet since we all went away on holidays together in June. One of them does not have a car but wants to buy some plants for her new flat, so I offered to drive her during the week to the gardencenter. Also rang a friend just to say hello, something I seldom do (prefer to send txt msgs), so he was happily surprised. Great way to start the weekend: with a friendly voice happy to hear from me :)

So after much expectation I met the girl from the language class. The previous times we met we had our partner with us and things were on a lighter note; this time she by herself and spent a lot of time complaining about her partner, her co-workers, her family… it seems most people she knows has major flaws. Apart from her of course. Since one of my many flaws is my inability to stand perfection, I cannot see us becoming friends :)

I’ve been making an effort to keep in better contact with friends.
As for new friends: one friend got married to a lovely girl who is becoming a good friend too, how wonderful.
And some exciting news: the girl from my language classe I wrote about many months ago is finally coming to visit me! I can’t say we are friends yet, we only met a couple of times and exchange a few emails, but I really like her and I’m looking forward to get to know her a bit more :)

I’m changing my goal from “make new friends” to “keep in better contact with the friends I have and make new friends”. My birthday is coming so perhaps I could gather my friends together for a meal or something.

I’d like to make new female friends. At the moment my friends are all male. What happened to my girl friends? All four of them went away back to their own different countries. That’s what you can get when you make friends with foreigners. We still keep in touch but I miss hanging out with other girls. So I have to make some effort into finding them.
Anyway, some months ago at the railway station I saw someone from a language-class I took >15 years ago… but never spoke to the person back then. So I made this bold move (to me at least) to approach her; she remembered me and seemed very pleased to see me. We exchanged contact details and yesterday we met for a meal and drinks. It was great to find out so much in common with my ex-colleague and to meet her girlfriend. Don’t know if we’ll see more of each other (they seem to have such a busy life AND life away from me) but it was a wonderful evening chatting away with them both. Hope they’ll come to visit me some day.
