I really enjoyed sharing the goal “mileage” with DoubleN. Since she marked it as done I’ve been feeling lonely on this one, so I’m changing the goal from “mileage” to “exercise regularly”. Now I am surrounded by more than 10 thousand 43T-people doing the exercises all over the world, how cool. Of all my goals at the moment, this is now the most popular.

Anyway, after my recovery from some health problems once more I’m exercising very often, I just haven’t been updating here on 43T – I hope to get back to regular updates, it’s always good to look back and see the progress.

Today after I deal with my paperwork I’m planning to take the rest of the day off and go for a long bike ride.

Due to loads of work and back pain (still hurting, still investigating this) I wasn’t able to exercise as much as I was planning. But I had a great time going out with the folks from the cycling club. My only complain is that I’m the only female attending, why it’s so difficult to find other female cyclists…? So there, I blew my other goal of not complaining for a week! Now I feel I could complain ad nauseum about the back pain, but I won’t. I need to fix whatever is wrong with my back before I can go cycling again – had to stop with the short commuting trips as well, could not stand the pain.

Anyway, my mileage for June:
cycling 165.17
swimming 9.39

Even though I’m behind with my mileage goal I feel I’m making progress in other areas due to this. While paying more attention to my approach to exercise I was able to see that yes I can have a system and find the determination when I want to. So I’m trying to apply this enthusiasm to other areas of my life :)

I’ve been thinking about my original cycling and swimming goals for 2008:
- 3000 miles cycling
So far this year I rode 605 miles, I would have to ride 343 each month which seems quite impossible. It’s not fun to chase an unrealistic goal. But perhaps I still have a change to do 2500? If I ride aprox 271 miles every month until the end of 2008 I may be able to do this! So yes, I’ll try 2500!

- 130 miles swimming
So far this year I did 41.43 miles. Perhaps I’m being too optimistic here but yes, I believe 130 miles are still possible, provided I increase my laps and carry on swimming at least 4x a week.

As for walking: I’m finding it hard to keep track, I tend to use mapmyfitness.com (which I already use to keep track of my cycling) but it can get boring and time consuming. Not sure what to do about this.

Anyway, I still have 1895 miles to cycle and 88 miles to swim this year. Go me, I can do this!

walking: went for great walks in the mountains, I hope my friend has the details about mileage, I wasn’t paying attention (whoops)

Sadly at the end of March I had some family problems, as I was dealing with loads of issues there was no time/energy for exercising. During April my mileage was so insignificant perhaps it’s not even worth mentioning… but anyway:
swimming: 2.4
cycling: 2.16 (really!)
walking: (will update this later)

After a whole month without exercising properly I’m feeling so unfit… well I’m curious to see how far I’ll be able to go im wunderschoenen Monat Mai :)

Even though I’m swimming more laps now, my total for this month was not that great. Last week I had to skip the pool twice due to the weird pains I felt while cycling, how disappointing. The walking during Feb was wonderful, most of it was done in France!

February: I have some short trips planned and won’t be able to take my bike with me. Perhaps I’ll find a public swimming pool nearby. The basic hotels I’m planning to stay in won’t have one, that’s certain.



mileage for 2008 23 months ago

Planning to track my mileage for 2008, for the following activities:

swimming – I wonder if I’ll be able to swim 150 130 miles this year. At the moment I’m swimming 2.5 miles a week with some difficulty… that already would give me 130 miles a year IF I could do that every single weekday. Well, I want to increase the number of laps during the year … so I believe 150 130 miles it’s a good number to aim for.

cycling – I would be delighted if I could finish 2008 after cycling 3000 miles. I may not be able to ride 250 miles every month so I may need to balance this during other months.

walking – no idea whatsoever! but I’m really curious about this. I’ll be only counting proper walks in the countryside, not everyday stuff otherwise the counting may get too boring :)
