I would like at the bare minimum $10,000 in my savings account for an emergency fund. This amount should cover my expenses for at least three months (longer if I am super conservative with my spending). Since I will no longer have a car payment after this month, I plan on taking the money that I would have usually spent on that to build up this amount. I also have set up automatic small amounts to come out of checking account every week and go to my ING account ( i love this account, they make it difficult for me to just go grab the money, so I have to reeeeally think about it before I touch it).
