Thanks to “Grab a Seat,” we managed to get return flights for under NZ$100 apiece, and so will be spending Queen’s birthday weekend in the capital. Alas, the clock tower apartment in Wellington is now privately owned and unavailable, but I think we found a decent alternative in The Keep. Very much looking forward to this trip!

Grab a Seat 2 years ago

Chris and I had pretty much written off our chances of visiting the capital this year – with airfare alone setting us back about NZ$450 and other trips already booked over the next couple of months (Waiheke Island for his birthday; a few days in the Coromandel with my parents in November), it just isn’t realistic. But Steve brought to our attention Air NZ’s “Grab a Seat” program, and we’re now keeping our eyes peeled. By this I mean that Google is no longer my home page. As soon as Auckland to Wellington and return show up, we’ll buy tickets.

(Hopefully we’ll also be able to book the clock tower apartment Lawrence and Vanessa stayed in last month. Amazing!)
