When your bike ride goes through a forest preserve, in Illinois, and it’s 2007, and it’s a gorgeous day …you’re gonna want to stop and check out Brood XIII.

2.62 miles from the DR to flat – the place is boiling hot, thanks to excellent location; hit half a pint of nice cold choco-milk, catch my breath… ride 3.36 miles to the libe, get the stuff I have on hold. They still have the one book that’s already been in for 5 days? Wonderful. Ride back 3.36 miles to get home. Total miles today: 9.34 and change. A ghost of a cramp in the lower left leg, sccrd me a bit, but eased off hammering and took a swig of water once I got to the libe. Riding back was a little easier as well – the headwinds that challenged the going part had eased off into ok breezes. Feelin pretty good, rehydrating now, keeping any cramps at bay.

Excellent riding conditions. 1 year ago

Laundry at the DR. This means scrubscrubscrub all the trays, today’s the third and last shift of cleaning for me. Green industrial strength cleaner + fumes = you chose the wrong day to stop sniffing glue, looks like. I don’t mind. It’s making 25 gallons of paper developer that kinda does. But that’s done soon enough. Found some small nuts and bolts in the general tools area and fixed the front fender on Walter.

Bonus: Clear spray paint! Applied to the stickers I put on last night and hooo yeah. (:

Not satisfied with just riding home from the DR, I repack a smaller ruxa with essentials (liquid electrolytes, keys, mopho) and head out into 25-35 mph headwinds. Cloudy with just enough light, vehicular traffic notta prob, and this time I brought along my workout iPod – the one with just Easy Love in it. Win win.
