Tuesday, the day after... 13 months ago

...turkey day. Have to get the kids back into school mode after a long weekend of doing not much. Can’t complain about the weather however—hard to get anything done inside when it’s almost 30C in the middle of October…

Today:

Friday 13 months ago

End of the week already and not a lot to show for it. I did manage to get the kids to (mostly) eat a pot of veg last night so maybe that counts. How you ask? Disguised as sausage, only one step removed from either hot dogs or bacon…

  • healthy breaky done steel-cut oats and apples—> oatmeal (oh, and I blended the apples with the skins for bonus fiber. No howls from DW yet…)

Got sidetracked yesterday helping DW with some of her work—not much done on my own goals as a result. Trying again today…

October the First 14 months ago

Continuing the theme of getting things done with the second (new) installment of ftf. Still haven’t got a tracking system together, but did manage to finish all of yesterday’s short term goals (Woot!). Today, a new set awaits…

  • coffee—done! espresso’s on the stove
  • backup work laptops—done, finished overnight
  • backup other home computers
  • work - had to skip these to work on another problem - tomorrow’s tasks
    • review last meeting/milestones
    • read current state of affairs and make notes
    • write a sample program
  • morning pages (this morning this time) done
  • practice music done


Been slacking a tad... 14 months ago

...have to pick up my socks (literally and figuratively) and get back to the schedule. I’m even trying something new—putting some thought into the next day’s goals before the next day gets here. By the time I got to the ftf posting, the day was half over and the coffee already gone. Kinda made the coffee goal (and others) a little redundant… and coffee, goal or otherwise, should never be redundant.

So here goes nothing:
  • get up with the alarm—this one’s going to be rough as I haven’t been following it for the last couple days. Back to Mr Six AM… done
  • coffee don’t think I really need to confirm this one
  • morning pages (goes with the coffee) started, finished this aft while poolwatching
  • more coffee (for when DW gets up) done!
  • lunches for the kids done
  • wrap up final paperwork done
  • set up backup system
  • swimming lessons done
  • back to Judo
  • music practice

Tomorrow night, I’ll post again and score the day. That result will go into a chart and at least be trackable. Don’t know what I’m going to do with the numbers yet, as they’ll only mean I’m capable of completing the goals I said I’d complete for the day. At some point, I’ll need to re-evaluate my BYY goals and track those instead. That’s for another day…

Otherwise known as “mid-week-knuckle-down-and-get-something-done-’cause-Friday’s-coming-and-you-don’t-want-to-be-stuck-working-late-day”.

  • kids to school done
  • exercise not done wrecked my big toe in judo last night—for some reason having the guy who’s tossing you, stomp on it (accidentally of course) while he’s tossing you, makes it uncomfortable the next day. No running for you…
  • write
    • morning pages done DW says I worry too much, but at least I wrote my 1000 words (mind you, they aren’t a coherent story, but that wasn’t one of the requirements
    • nanowrimo prep – going to actually make an attempt to complete something this year (or try to keep up—hard to do when working with a professional)
  • work
    • looking into programming IDE’s this morning. Have to select and set something up
    • contemplate moving back to Vista for the time being – that’s the env I have to teach in and where I should be evaluating tools
  • play – set up a scrabble date for tonight

  • coffee – DW is still sleeping, looks like I’m on my own this morning

  • more coffee – pretty much a no brainer, what with the grey skies

    • plan out the next couple programming lessons
  • family – dole out another scrabble lesson
