for a city inspector walk-through… yeah… and this was on 4/20 she gives notice.
So, I got 2 hours of sleep, but house was very pretty and clean and a drug-free zone.
Now to de-clutter, unpack a few boxes from when we moved a year ago, organize and keep it up! Our reward: using the crate & barrel gift cards I’ve been amassing to buy expensive and useless but very pretty home accessories. Possibly also a mortar/pestle set I’ve had my eye on (for the one time every three years I make bullar).

except it was a bat in my bathroom and this wasn’t another hilarious episode of family ties.
scene: the seldom-used upstairs bathroom. i followed the cat playfully into the tub only to come face to face with the tiny brown mammal, peacefully sleeping while hanging from the tub faucet. hubby and i had no idea what to do. one thing’s for certain: hubby does not like bats. but the bat was finally extracted after much suiting up and squeamishness. i let the bat go on the deck and it flew away somewhere. hopefully we all don’t have rabies.
the bat incident prompted much googling of bats and i learned all kinds of interesting facts about them.
In the end, we all three survived, but i just have to wonder…. HOW THE FUCK DID A BAT GET INTO THE BATHROOM? does this have something to do with the general state of disarray in which we tend to keep the apartment?

which means we’re on full-scale apartment cleaning lock-down today. I was up to me bony double-jointed elbows in soap suds and sweat just now and needed a break. 43T fix has revived me.

before vaca. but since returning, things have fallen to shit. so, my first real day off in awhile, i am going to spend the next couple hours cleaning before i have to meet a friend. then, maybe more later. laundry is key and a priority. i’m nearly out of undies! plus i want to see what i can do about decluttering.

and we did 12 before we pooped out at 2:30 a.m. Bed needed us. Now I am awake and looking around and we do have more work, but not so bad. lots of little things, like sweeping, dusting etc. I also get to put my books away in the bookcase we moved downstairs. That’s my most favorite thing to do. We even hung some stuff on the walls so it’s not so bare in here. Things are looking UP UP UP!
Bagel time for me! Then back to work. Hubby worked extra hard, so he gets to sleep in a little.

-finally finish unpacking from the move and decluttering
-make a “free” box to put outside full of the purged
-finally convinced Hubby to move both bookcases next to one another to free up space both down and upstairs
-finish all laundry and dishes. just keep going.
-decorate and make pretty

I have not ironed, seriously IRONED, since I moved out of my parents’ home in 2005. Well, my DH and I recently acquired the necessary tools, and I decided to break it out. So very pleasantly surprised was I, to find how much I like it and have missed it. Seeing our crisp dress shirts hung alongside pants with perfect creases gave me a sense of accomplishment.
