onto the website imnotsorry.net and was stirred to action.
after reading the unbelievably moving accounts of women who underwent abortions before roe v wade, i thought of all the people i knew who would 100% support the repealing of roe v wade. i’ve been a supporter of abortion rights for some time, but mere verbal support does nothing. so i would like to devote some portion of my energy into ensuring that with all these INSANE and CRIMINAL heads of government we have, who appoint right-wing judges while democrats yawn and ask polite questions, no woman in this country ever has to feel that she cannot obtain safe and discreet medical assistance. i am very very very worried about the state of things, and i’m not certain that roe v wade will be overturned, but i absolutely feel our fundamental human right to choose what happens within the boundaries of our own skin is slipping.
anyway blah blah blah, i’ve been thinking about some useful way to occupy the free time i have (now that i am not required to work 20-40 hours a week in unpaid overtime), i would specifically like to volunteer, in some way shape or form. Anyway, I am going to ask around to some activist friends I know and see what’s needed, where.
roe v wade was 35 years ago, on tuesday, january 22. one of the most important days in recent history. i would like to honor the history and struggle for rights, by actually doing something.
