ok, so it turns out that texaserider is making major modifications to the controller hardware after taking inventory from germany… which means taking a risk on relatively unproven technology when compared to the Oxygen MB50. unless I can find myself a decent tech in Santa Monica willing to work on it should anything arise, I’m thinking to err on the side of caution. ( I am NOT willing to pay shipping to Texas every time there’s a problem.. )

all the same, i’ve put my name on the list to get called back when they start shipping. there’s no obligation to buy, and it secures me a lower price, so why not. give me time to broaden my horizons and see what else is out there in the meantime.

progress in the R&D dept. 4 years ago

after geeking-out Thursday - instead of working on that all-so-overdue web project - my eyes have opened to the Oxygen Lepton-e.. seems to have the best torque out there and doesn’t look as chintzy as some of the chinese exports.

then again, i stumbled across www.texaserider.com and they seem confident that Germany’s E-max is the new king. and it’s on sale until the end of the month..

quick! anyone know about this brand’s rep? i’m thinking a rash purchase may otherwise be emminent!

..”find an exercise in disappointment”

as if to prove statements made in my last post, my contact at big ass motors here in L.A. emails me with the news that he’s stopped dealing with Evader. Seems that they haven’t contacted him since last year regarding his request for parts.. and I thought that not getting a reply from their marketing director after two weeks was bad.

oh well, I can only hope that they release the Vectrix soon enough at a resonable (read: within my reach) price point.

i really want one, you know? not one of those chintzy razor-type deals, but a big-ol’, honest-to-goodness, sit-down, zip around town like Alphie on a Vespa scooter.

they exist, i swear! but it seems every time i do the research to find one, the entire landscape has changed; companies go out of business, new models come to light that never reach production, etc.. it’s a confusing mess.

recommend one and tell me how to get it in los angeles; i’ll get it. really. i’m sick of cars but need to get around again, so why not avoid using gas at the same time as having a little fun?
