Finally did this the other day. Now to make it a weekly habit. I think I will do it again tomorrow night as a reward for having a clean house. You know… after I clean my house.

i said i would update, so i am. i failed at this goal last night. i’m not beating myself up about it because it wasn’t truly my fault. my daughter was fussy all night, so i was taking care of her. i think i’m going to try this again tonight.

off the wagon i fall... 11 months ago

so, i said i wasn’t going to check this off as done until i had done it once a week for a month. and i guess i have to start over.

tonight, i will re-attempt this evening ritual thing. it’s so easy to forget.

sigh.

watch me put this on my calendar…

plan for tonight: wash towels, put away my laundry, photograph more baby clothes for eBay sale, clean up bathroom, take a hot, slow shower by candlelight, deep moisturize, paint my toes, make peppermint tea, listen to music, stretch, and meditate.

i did it! 12 months ago

so 7.5 out of ten isn’t bad! I didn’t wash all my dishes, so I’m counting that as half, I made baklava with the hour I would have used to clean the bathroom, and I only stretched for a little while, but I did everything else and I highly recommend it!

the best things: the candle-lit shower, deep moisturizing, music, and tea. the shower was really calming.

if you have never taken a shower in the dark with only candles, you’re missing out. it’s beautiful- you can see all the warm steam, and I feel really beautiful in that light. after deep moisturizing with almond oil and shea butter, I sprayed perfume on myself, put on warm clothes, laid down, and listened to calming music while I drank my mint tea. the perfume on the lotions made me feel beautiful and feminine and cared for.

i think it’s especially important to care for yourself when you’re single because it’s easy to get stressed and allow the other person to care for you. this felt wonderful. :) i’m going to do this once a week for a month before i check it off my list.

plan for tonight:

wash dishes and clean bathroom, then put my favorite candles on, take a nice hot shower, deep moisturize, paint my toes, stretch for half an hour, play relaxing music, drink tea, and meditate before heading to bed. we’ll see how it goes; I’ll update tomorrow.
