If only I could force myself to keep up with the little bits of record keeping throughout the year, rather than having major stress at tax time.

So after all that stress for months, it actually took me about 10 minutes to print out a report from Quicken and annotate a few things for my accountant. I don’t know whether to be relieved that I’m done, or yet more pissed off at myself for not doing this six months ago.
I need to join an anti-procrastination support group. “Hi, my name is Alan…”
Hi all, and thanks for the invite, nelanj.
Sorry I didn’t respond to your email sooner, but it’s been the usual combo of procrastination and other work.
Guess I’m on my first and final push this weekend to get the papers together for my accountant. Urgh. Not looking forward to tomorrow morning…
Got my business return filed, now on to the personal. It actually wasn’t quite as bad as I thought, but I still hate this! It’d be so much easier if I just kept up with the paperwork throughout the year.
Sigh. September 15th is my drop-dead filing date (with a different return due October 15), which means I basically have to get all the data to my accountant in the next couple of days. If I do nothing but collect all the paperwork 12 hours a day for the next week, I’ll still just barely have it organized.
I hate this…
