I met with a piano teacher today, who said though I have great talents at playing by ear if I really want to play classical piano I need to know all the boring bits, and I should start with grade 1….. I thought 20 years of tinkling around on the ivories albeit to no great standard might at least mean I could have skipped a coupld of grades but I guess this is going to be a longer harder slog than I suspected…. hey ho… off to buy grade 1 papers tomorrow then another lesson in a fortnight…
