STOP EATING AT NIGHT

Some simple things 2 years ago

I have this problem myself, and here are a few things that might help (short of lobotomy).

Watch less TV. Play an instrument, or do other task where your hands are occupied.

Keep a jug or bottle of cold water in fridge, and drink a glass of that before anything else. Because often we eat because we’re thirsty, not really hungry, so make it easy to get at cold water instead of food.

Snack on stuff that doesn’t stick to your sides. Such as celery. No dip.

If you must eat, stick to something filling and healthy such as cottage cheese or canned green beens. Proteins makes you fill full quicker than fat or carbs do.

Be careful with those energy bars. Energy bars are not low cal or slimming food. They are highly concentrated calories intended as instant fuel for very active people.

Don’t even keep potato chips and candy in the house. They don’t taste that good anyways.

Eat a breakfast with plenty of fiber and long-lasting carbs, such as oatmeal. Oat meal is as close as you can get to a miracle food. I can honestly say that starting having regular breakfast with oatmeal, is what enabled me to quit smoking a year ago.

Finally, about getting to bed earlier:
Start the routine by getting up earlier in the morning.

Swear off late TV shows. I am sorry, Comedy Central, but Daily show and Colbert Report’s gotta go. 11:00 to midnight is simply the wrong time.
