But, my list looks something like this:
1. Exercising.
2. Cooking a good dinner with my hubband.
3. Having people over.
4. Writing for an hour.
5. Reading good fiction.
6. Doing work that I truly care about.
7. Interfacing with quality mentors.
8. Crossing things off the to do list.
9. Living in other lands.
10. Watching fuzzy mammals play out their funny fuzzy mammal behaviors (stalking, chasing, mewing, etc.)
11. Moisturizing.
12. Bouncing on my BALL!
As you can see, these aren’t unattainable or particularly expensive things. In fact, most of the items on this list are actions rather than objects, which makes me feel comforted. The onus on me, I guess, is to structure my days in such a way that I maximize performing these actions, improving the processes underlying the actions, and get compensated fairly for the work I do to pay the electricity bill.

I broke down and purchased a new pair of decidedly hipster New Balance trail running shoes. Wanted something that I could wear with jeans and feel HOT, rather than frumpy. I also wanted shoes that said “The weather is so lovely outside, go out and get that endorphin rush, it’s better than Zoloft!”
Mmm. Did it yesterday, and hope to do it again today if the pollen doesn’t put its strangle-hold on my nasal passage.

And uncovered years later:

Big green balls.
Don’t you just love to say BALLS? I do.
I am now bouncing on a bright new and shiny ball for typing at my computer.
No more leg crossing and key tapping for me. No no.

French Onion Soup—When you think about it, this bistro standard is, at its core, cheap peasant food. Imagine someone in semi-urban going to the market and coming home with a bag of onions, a loaf of bread, a chunk of cheese, maybe some table wine. What would you create?
Maybe a bowl of rich and sumptuous soup.
