Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

If I can drag myself out of bed at a decent hour in the morning, I’ll go tomorrow. Judging from my sleep patterns as of late, though, that’s a rather large if.

I've been bad.

Haven’t gone since I got back from school. Various reasons…hopefully I’ll get there eventually.

I've missed the last couple weeks.

Hopefully I can get myself to go when I’m at home. I don’t think I’ve ever gone to Daily Mass except when I’m at school, so we’ll see how that goes. I have to find out when my church and the other Catholic churches around offer it.

Dec. 8 - The Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Today is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Mary the Immaculate is the Patronness of the United States, and today, the commemoration of Mary’s Immaculate Conception through the Holy Spirit, is the National Feast Day for the United States of America. Have a wonderful, blessed Feast Day, everyone, and may God bless America.

Update from the last two weeks

I made in on Thursday of this week but didn’t make it to Mass last week while I was home. I should find out the daily Mass schedules of my church at home and some of the other churches nearby so I can arrange to go while I’m at home over Christmas.

Success for the week.

Went today. They’re still painting, so there’s still that nice scent of fresh paint everywhere. The ceiling was just redone, and the electricians are coming very soon to fix the lights. When the crew that redid the ceiling stuck in the lights, they put them in a completely random pattern, so there’s an interesting lighting scheme going on now.

Went today.

CAP was closed today for Veteran’s day, so I didn’t have to go to work after class, so I got to go to Mass. The Newman Center’s being repainted and rewired and re-a whole bunch of stuff – I think the paint fumes might add something to the Mass.

the Cardinal is having some sort of retreat for all the priests in the Archdiocese, or something like that, on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, so there won’t be daily Mass on those days. So…looks like Mass might not happen again this week.

Made it this week.

Didn’t make it the past two weeks, but I went today. I also went on Tuesday, but that was for All Saint’s Day, so it didn’t count for my daily Mass goal. I was also twenty minutes late to All Saint’s Day Mass, cause I thought it started at 11:30 but it actually started at 11, so I missed the Liturgy of the Word and therefore couldn’t take Communion, so I don’t even know of that counted for my Holy Day bligation…but anyways, I did make it today.

Missed it this week. :-/ Maybe next week.
