To travel. When I received my passport I of course gagged at the awful photo, but I also celebrated a big step in my life. With a passport you can go almost anywhere (some places require a Visa as well) in the world! It doesn’t guarantee a hassle-free entry – I have to sweet talk my way into the UK all the time despite having multiple stamps from several points of entry into the country – but without it you would most certainly be DENIED. It comes in handy in non-travel circumstances as well including using banks that you aren’t a customer at, etc. It does have some downfalls though. If you are arrested you may be detained as a flight risk because you can jet away at a moment’s notice, but you wouldn’t do anything to get arrested anyway so why worry? :)
