I would like to fill this out sometime soon…so I’m going to post it here to remind me.
Self assessment is a critical first step in conducting good career and life/work planning. You may want to address a number of questions prior to exploring occupational choices or attempting your job search.
Interests:
What are your interests? Passionate curiosities? What intrigues you?
Motivation:
What sustains your work? What keeps you committed to a task? What gives you energy?
Skills:
What are your areas of expertise? What skills do you most enjoy using? What could you teach someone else?
Values:
What is really important to you? What do you value? What shapes your expectations of work?
Preferences:
What are your preferences in your work environment? What do you look for in working conditions, work culture, salary, geography, schedule, benefits, co-workers and other resources?
Timing:
Where are you in your career path? How much time do you have to devote to this process? Are you facing specific deadlines?

List the results of your assessment; categorize interests, motivation, skills, values, preferences, etc…
Prioritize in the order you deem most important. Create a blueprint, map or picture of what you discover by organizing and reviewing your efforts.
